Brief

The clients, first time buyers, wanted to refurbish a lovely early 20th century Collins built home for their small family. With a modest budget, we took the house back to its bones, revived original features, did two bathrooms and turned 5 bedrooms into 4 and a dressing room.

The house is part of the beautiful Rookfield Estate conservation area in Muswell Hill. It was the first settlement in the area and part of the historic garden suburb movement. My architect and I also designed the back garden using an existing curved wall as our legacy piece.

Lynn Blades helped me by decorating my flat in London where I have been living for a year. She made it feel homey and contemporary which are sometimes in conflict.
