It’s designed to make you feel welcomed and relaxed at every turn. Original flagstone floors, oak paneling, cosy nooks and crackling fires set a tranquil scene in which guests can unwind. My husband, daughter and I had just come from a long Easter weekend with family when we arrived. The idea was to recuperate from four days of chocolate indulgence and in-laws. Big comfy couches, leather club chairs and beds you never want to get out of were calling our names. Think OKA country chic with a few mid-century modern clean lines. Once we settled in, it was straight to the new spa. It is fabulous, I mean seriously, fabulous. The main space is housed in a gorgeous glass building with cantilevered doors that open clear across two sides framing long reaching in views of the rolling hills. The focal points of the room are a chic, sleek champagne bar and a stone fire hearth. There are two gyms, lavender and salt steam rooms, a sauna, hydro and infinity pools as well as tropical showers to chill you out. The space was so inviting, filled with chaise lounges, white couches and soothing energy, that we lingered there for hours daily. With an extensive menu of treatments you really couldn’t go wrong. The cherry on top was you could have a healthy breakfast and lunch there at your leisure. There are two main restaurants in Dormy House. The Green Room has an excellent breakfast but the three course dinner is over priced for the quality and quantity of food. The service, while very polite, was slow. We were quite lazy and didn’t venture outside the hotel for meals but near by Broadway and Chipping Campden would surely be worth the effort. The food in the Potting Shed, the in-house pub, was good; but, by the end of our stay we had tired of the menu which only changes weekly. All in all, it was wonderful stay. The staff was impeccable. We felt rested and revived when we left. Our daughter managed to achieve an incredible amount of A level revision during our stay and didn’t complain once. In fact we didn’t want to leave. They even gave us goody bags with home-baked chocolate chip cookies and spring water for the journey home. We will return!
